DIY LED Wind Chime Soldering Kit – DC 3-5V Electronics Project
DIY LED Swing Wind Chime Electronic Soldering Kit
Bring your electronics skills to life with this fun and educational DIY LED Swing Wind Chime Kit. Powered by DC 3–5V, this beginner-friendly soldering project uses 87 LEDs arranged in the shape of hanging wind chimes that appear to sway left and right — all driven by a clever multivibrator circuit. Perfect for electronics hobbyists, students, and anyone looking to sharpen their soldering and circuit-building skills.
Please Note: This kit is designed for electronics enthusiasts with basic circuit assembly experience. We ensure each kit is in perfect condition before dispatch, but successful assembly depends on the builder's skills. Please read all instructions carefully before beginning.

How It Works
The circuit is built around transistors Q1 and Q2, forming a multivibrator that alternates the flashing of two groups of LEDs. When powered on, one transistor conducts first, lighting Group A LEDs while Group B remains off. As the capacitor charges, the second transistor is triggered, switching the display to Group B — and so the cycle repeats, creating a mesmerising left-to-right swinging visual effect, just like real wind chimes blowing in the breeze.
You can even customise the swing speed by swapping out components: increasing the capacitance of C1/C2 or the resistance of R1/R2 slows the swing, giving you hands-on experience with how component values affect circuit behaviour.

Frequently Asked Questions
Q: What power source does the DIY LED Wind Chime Kit require?
A: The kit runs on DC 3–5V. You can power it via a USB connection or by using 2–3 AA batteries, making it flexible and easy to set up anywhere.
Q: Is this kit suitable for complete beginners with no soldering experience?
A: This kit is best suited for those with at least basic soldering and circuit experience. While the circuit design is straightforward and educational, some familiarity with electronics assembly is recommended for a successful build. It makes an excellent project for school electronics training courses.
Q: Can I change the speed of the LED swinging effect?
A: Yes! The swing speed is fully adjustable. Replacing C1 and C2 with higher-capacitance capacitors, or R1 and R2 with higher-resistance resistors, will slow down the alternating LED effect. This hands-on customisation is a great way to learn how component values influence circuit timing.
Q: How many LEDs does the wind chime kit include?
A: The kit features 87 LEDs, arranged in the shape of hanging wind chimes. When assembled and powered, they alternate in two groups to create a convincing swaying visual effect.
