Installation & Safety Guidelines

  1. Always set the output voltage to match your battery bank before connecting the controller.
  2. Connect the solar panel to the controller first, then connect the battery.
  3. Positive terminals are marked red; negative terminals are marked black.
  4. Keep connecting cables as short as possible to minimize energy loss.
  5. Install in a well-ventilated location — the controller generates heat during normal operation.
  6. Do not operate under voltage overload or power overload conditions.
  7. Ensure solar panels are exposed to direct sunlight and are not covered or placed behind glass.
  8. The built-in fuse is rated 15A — do not replace it yourself unless qualified.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: What battery types are compatible with this MPPT boost solar charge controller?

A: This solar charge controller is compatible with LiFePO4, Lithium-Ion, Lead-Acid, and Gel batteries. You can select the appropriate output voltage (24V, 36V, 48V, 60V, or 72V) to match your battery bank configuration before installation.

Q: What is the difference between a boost (step-up) solar charge controller and a standard MPPT controller?

A: A standard MPPT controller can only charge batteries at or below the solar panel input voltage. A boost (step-up) MPPT controller, like this one, can step up a lower panel voltage (12V–50V input) to charge a higher-voltage battery bank (up to 72V output), giving you much greater system design flexibility.

Q: Does this solar charge controller work if the solar panel is not connected?

A: No. The controller requires a connected solar panel to operate correctly. Always ensure the solar panel is connected before expecting the unit to function. Also make sure the output voltage is set to match your battery bank voltage prior to installation.
